Support Our CHE Community — Volunteer!

Our fun events are 100% volunteer-run, and we need a lot of parent power to make things run smoothly. Please take a look at the open needs below and sign up. We cannot do this without you! If we do not get enough volunteers, we will have to cancel events.

❓ But I have no idea how to run X event? We have documentation on how events were run in the past that you can either follow along, or make it entirely your own!

👫 I'm worried this will take too much of my time. We have a wide variety of events that take more or less time — ask our volunteer coordinator Tabitha to help you find the right thing for you! We try to break down volunteer opportunities into bite sized pieces but that means we need more people to help out (many hands make light work).

✨ UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES ✨

Book Fair

We have lead parents but we need some additional support with:

  • Cashiers
  • Setup and break-down

Halloween Costume Exchange Lead & Co-Lead

  • Our costume exchange is a low lift event to get involved with! Help organize donated costumes before the exchange.

VIP Day

We have a lead parent but we need some additional support with:

  • Greet visitors
  • Setup and break-down
  • Purchase food/coffee (with PTA funds)

Big Boo

We have lead parents but we need some additional support with:

  • Haunted Library Lead

Auction Committee

  • Our school has an annual fundraising auction in the springtime, and we need to get planning ASAP! This role can be done by a singular parent or a group — if you like event planning and have creative ideas, there is a lot of flexibility and freedom with this one!

Family Fun Nights

  • Put on the school dance, family movie night, or OMSI night

Classroom Volunteering

  • Photography: One parent per class needed to take photos throughout the school year for our free yearbook
  • Gardening: One parent per class to help with prep work, planting and lessons (does not need a green thumb, all materials will be provided)

Schoolyard Project

  • Let's transform our schoolyard from blacktop to an inviting, green play space! We are looking for folks to donate their brainpower — especially if you have experience with: architecture, construction, engineering, landscaping, project management, grant writing, or general awesomeness. Contact schoolyard@capitolhillelementary.com for more information.

Show your children how we come together as a caring community to provide safe and exciting events that help their teachers, classrooms, and school.

Volunteer Opportunities
Join the Capitol Hill PTA

The Capitol Hill PTA is a critical component of the Capitol Hill elementary experience. Our PTA is a wonderful group of parents and school staff who oversee almost every event that our students enjoy! Joining the PTA is a great way to: get involved, meet other families, enrich your child's school experience, have access to information, and raise funds to benefit our teachers and school.

Reminder: If you were a member last year, you will need to purchase a new membership for the 2025-2026 school year.

💰 Cost: Membership for the entire school year is only $15 for an individual and $25 for two people

🏫 What's in it for me? Joining will allow you a vote on PTA decisions (how to spend the budget, proposals, and more) and access to the PTA Family Directory. And the funds from membership goes right back to supporting our teachers & students.

🙈 Introverted? No pressure — joining the PTA is not an obligation to do anything beyond being a presence in our caring community. (Note: if you would like to join the PTA and are in need of a scholarship, please contact treasurer@capitolhillpta.org)

Join us for a meeting! You do not need to be a paying member to attend PTA meetings or volunteer at events. All are welcome. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 8th from 6-7pm.
