Last Call for Yearbook Photos

Did you know that every June our PTA provides a free yearbook to every single Capitol Hill student? To make that happen we need photos of our kids!

This is the last week to submit photos you have taken:

  • during a class field trip
  • at school (regular day, assembly, etc.)
  • at an event (Art Box, Snow Queen, etc.)

via email them to comm@capitolhillelementary.com. If you'd rather text them, send us an email and we'll provide a mobile number for you.

Field Day

Friday, May 23rd is Field Day! Thank you to all of the parents who have signed up to volunteer. There are just a couple open spots for Kinder to 2nd grade activities (taking place 12:15pm - 1:45pm) - click here to sign up. All volunteers need to make sure they have gone through the background check with PPS.

Send your student to school prepared for fun! Remember:

  • Wear tennis shoes / sneakers for running and jumping
  • Pack extra clothes (water games may get clothing wet)

  • If the day is sunny, pack a hat and put sunscreen on your child before school

  • Bring a water bottle

Questions? Email mgustin@pps.net.

Join the PTA!

While it feels hard to believe, we are preparing the PTA for the 2025-2026 school year. This means we need to finalize our board and event leads. Are you fun? Organized? Good at writing enticing emails? We want you!

Open board positions:

  • Vice President - lead fundraising efforts, including: spirit wear, holiday greenery sales, dining out nights, and more
  • Communications - craft and distribute these beautiful, witty, and helpful newsletters (2 per month: one digital, one print); can be done from your couch entirely outside of typical work hours!
  • Volunteer Coordinator 2 - work with Tabitha to line up and communicate with volunteers for all of our fantastic event leads

Events in need of leads:

  • Auction - you can make this event your own
  • Grand Friends Day
  • Halloween Costume Exchange (new!)
  • Family Fun Nights
  • More!

Click here to sign up for a board position or an event.

The best parts: we have documented processes for all events (so you do not need to start from scratch or know anything), you can be creative/take ownership and make changes you'd like to see, AND almost ALL of these volunteer opportunities can take place outside of normal working hours.

Introverted? Many don't require you to talk to live humans at all.

If we don't get volunteers, these beloved events cannot take place for our kids. Please consider stepping up.

Questions before you commit? Reach out to Tabitha (or any other board member) and we'd be happy to help.
