Dining Out Night

DATE CHANGE: Monday, March 17th is Dining Out Night: wear green and make some green for our school! Mention Capitol Hill and Steeplejack Pizza & Beer will be donating 10% of dine-in food sales and 15% of beer sales to our PTA. While emptying their piggy banks into the arcade games won't make us money, it will keep the kids entertained so parents can eat while the pizza is still hot!

3:00pm - 9:00pm

4439 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Portland, OR 97221

Snow Queen

The Missoula Children's Theater is returning to Capitol Hill this year to put on a performance of The Snow Queen April 21 - 26 with our students.

We are looking for a School Play Lead, who will be the point of contact/stage manager for the volunteers and directors the week of the play.

We are also looking for a connection to any rental (Airbnb or ADU) for the 2 directors to stay in for that week.

If you have a lead on a rental or are interested in being the Play Lead please reach to Tabitha Ames, amestabs@gmail.com

2025-2026 PTA Board & Event Lead Openings

Have you thought about volunteering on the PTA or PTA board? Our community needs you! Now is your chance to sign up for the 2025-2026 school year.

Board positions:

  • President - Point of contact for the PTA, leads the PTA meetings, and delegates work
  • Vice President - Oversees fundraising
  • Secretary - Takes minutes at PTA general and board meetings, file paperwork and reserves space for in-school events
  • Treasurer 2 - Processes reimbursements, check writing, and assists Treasurer 1 (no accounting experience required)
  • Volunteer Coordinator 2 - Creates excel schedules and sends email requests (Shared position with Volunteer Coordinator 1)

Events:

Each event has a Lead (and/or team) that oversees its coordination. Leads and co-leads for the following events need to be secured before the end of school year:

  • Community Cares Day
  • Loved Book Exchange
  • Grand Friends Day
  • The Big Boo / Fall Carnival
  • Staff Appreciation
  • Family Fun Nights
  • Gardening
  • Auction
  • Art Show
  • Field Day
  • More!

Every role is provided with documentation about the event (contact information for vendors, budget, timeline of steps to follow, tips from last year), the goal is to make it as easy as possible! Many events are very flexible - you don't have to do it like it has always been done. Maybe you want to do Trunk or Treat this year? Sign up as a lead and we'll help you run with it!

Click here to see all open positions and sign up for a spot.

Please reach to Tabitha Ames, amestabs@gmail.com, or any other current board member with any questions.

Art Box

Wow! What a fun time we had on Saturday, enjoying our students' singing and self portraits! It was so fun to see the excitement of our kids when they're let in on the fundraising!

Thank you to every family and teacher who attended, volunteered their time and creativity, and donated items or money! Our community is strong and came together to raise funds that will benefit our teachers and students! We will report back once the dust has settled to let you know how much was raised.

If you won an item in the online auction, look out for upcoming email communication about where and when to pick up your goodies.

If you missed the deadline, but your child would like to participate in the teacher feature parties, there is still a chance - please click here to purchase a spot

Join a Capitol Hill PTA Meeting

There are only 2 PTA meetings left. Have you attended one yet? The Capitol Hill PTA is a fun group of parents and school staff who oversee almost every event that our students enjoy!

The PTA meets monthly. Meetings are hosted by the board, and open to all parents and Capitol Hill staff. Each meeting has a guest speaker or topic of the month, and is a great chance to ask questions, meet other families, and learn about the work we are doing to raise funds for our teachers and school. You do not need to be a paying member to join a meeting.

Upcoming meetings:

April 9

May 14

5:30pm - 6:30pm in the Capitol Hill Library. If you're unable to attend in person, a Zoom link is sent the week of the meeting. All are welcome.

We see the same faces most months but we really want to see YOU. If you have questions or something is stopping you from joining, please let us know
